7: Configure User Assignment

In this task, you assign users to the portfolio. Based on the assignment, the users will be able to launch products under the portfolio.

Just to recall, databaseuser will have access to database-portfolio only; while applicationuser can access both database-portfolio and app-service-portfolio.

  1. Go to the AWS Service Control Management Console, Click on the Portfolios menu under Administrator section on the left side and then click on the database-portfolio portfolio.

  2. On the portfolio screen, click on the Groups, roles, and users (0) tab and then click on the Add groups, roles, users button.

  3. On the next screen, click on the Users tab, the select applicationuser and databaseuser users and then click on the Add access button.

  4. The users are now assigned to the porfolio and they can launch products of this portfolio.

  5. Kindly repeat steps 1 to 4 to assign applicationuser to the app-service-portfolio.

  6. The user assignment is complete. You will configure constrains in the next task which will restrict users to provision services only through service catalog; not from the AWS console.
